Retomamos el tema de la mejora de los bunkers en el recorrido de Los Olivos, prosiguiendo con nuestro programa de mejoras y cuya última referencia tuvo lugar en Octubre del año pasado con respecto a los de los hoyos 11 y 16.
Nos hemos ocupado ya de los únicos bunkers de green que quedaban por arreglar – los de los hoyos 7,1 y 18 -; aprovechando que el tiempo ha acompañado una vez más, hemos podido darle un buen tirón durante las últimas semanas para que Los Olivos esté en plena forma de cara a nuestra temporada de más ocupación, que ya está a la vuelta de la esquina.
Os recordamos que se trata de un procedimiento de tres pasos: Sacar todo el relleno del que se componía anteriormente, sanear el drenaje y volver a cubrir con relleno nuevo.
Por supuesto, estos trabajos se intentan realizar de manera que moleste lo menos posible a los jugadores y no afecta de ningún modo a la práctica de reservas ni al ritmo de juego.
Golfistas o no, deseamos que disfrutéis de este mes de Febrero que, aunque algo más fresquito, tampoco nos está dejando mucha lluvia de momento.

Reintroducing the subject of Los Olivos’ bunkers reparation, to continue with our improvements program – Last review made in October 2015 regarding holes number 11 and 16 -.
We have been completely busy on holes number 7, 1 and 18. Taking advantage of the weather in our favor once again, we could push things along during the past weeks to get Los Olivos’ bunkers in good shape to face the closeness of our highest occupation period; which is round the corner.
A short note to remind you this 3-steps procedure: To put out all the original filled composing it, restructuring the drainage an covering again with new sand.
Of course, we always carry on with this works trying to disturb the players as little as possible and it doesn’t obstruct the normal bookings system or the pace of play.
Golfers or not, we wish everybody to enjoy of this month of February; a bit cooler, but with not much rain at the moment.

Nuestros asiduos de la zona de prácticas, podrán por fin volver a disfrutar de esta área de entrenamiento a partir del próximo lunes 27 de Octubre. Animamos a todos nuestros clientes a venir y comprobar las mejoras realizadas, aprovechando además la maravillosa segunda primavera que este clima de octubre nos está regalando.

Y hablando de mejoras, retomamos también la reforma de los bunkers emprendida en el campo de Los Olivos. Nuestro personal de mantenimiento ha empezado ya a trabajar en el último de los tres bunkers situados en el hoyo 12 de dicho recorrido.

Se trata de una remodelación de los bunkers en la que el primer paso a seguir es deshacerse de todo el material antiguo hasta llegar a la base. Después se ponen los nuevos drenajes y se cubre todo con arena nueva.

Como ya hemos comentado, hay dos bunkers más en los que ya se adelantó la mitad del trabajo durante la semana pasada; por lo que, en poco tiempo, esta calle de Los Olivos ofrecerá al jugador unos bunkers totalmente reparados y en perfecto estado.

Our regulars at the practice area will be able to enjoy this facility again from this coming Monday the 27th of October. We encourage all our customers to come and check by themselves this improved part of the Club, and to take advantage of this wonderful second spring that October’s weather is giving us.

And to continue with improvements issues, we take up again the repairing of Los Olivos’ bunkers. Our maintenance staff is starting to work on the last of the three bunkers at hole number 12 on this course.

This is a remodeling of the bunkers, in which the first step to take is to dump all the old stuff to reach the base. Then put the new drainage to finally cover everything with new sand.

As we said before, two of this three bunkers were half done from last week; so soon our players will be delighted by this 12^th fairway of Los Olivos, with totally repaired bunkers in perfect conditions.

Seguimos con la mirada fija en aquellos aspectos de nuestras instalaciones que se pueden mejorar.

Es por ello que nuestro Greenkeeper, siempre apoyado por un cualificado equipo de mantenimiento, está metido de lleno en la reparación de los bunkers de los greenes de Los Olivos.

Para que los resultados sean óptimos, hay que moldearlos de nuevo: Se vacían en su totalidad, se elimina el drenaje y se limpia de grava, etc…

Después se realizan las excavaciones necesarias para introducir los nuevos drenajes y se cubren con arena nueva.

A día de hoy, ya están terminados los bunkers del green del 1; y se está trabajando en los del green del 9. Por supuesto, de ahí se pasará a reparar los siguientes bunkers de green que más lo necesiten.

We keep staring at those aspects in our facilities that can be improved.

This is why our Greenkeeper, always supported by a qualified maintenance team, is completely involved in the greens’ bunkers’ reparation on Los Olivos.

To get an optimal result, it is necessary to mold them again: The bunkers must be emptied and the drainage must be removed to start cleaning it of all the gravel, etc…

Afterwards, the necessary excavations are made to insert the new drainages and, finally, to cover them with new sand.

At the present moment, the bunkers of the 1^st green are finished; and they are working on the 9^th green’s ones.

Then, of course, they will continue fixing the neediest ones orderly.

 Muchas veces os hemos hablado de nuestros campos, de las hermosas vistas de las que se puede disfrutar, del  diseño, de las continuas mejoras en nuestras instalaciones, e incluso de los eventos que venimos celebrando; y siempre nos hemos sentido arropados por vuestra confianza y aceptación.

 Pero no podemos olvidar otros atractivos tan o más importantes si cabe, por los que puedes terminar de decidirte por Mijas Golf, así como por la Costa del Sol en general.

 Por ejemplo, no sé si conocéis  nuestros ventajosos plazos de cancelación. ¿Sabíais que se puede anular una reserva para 4 personas con tal sólo 24 horas de antelación?

 Pocos negocios del sector ofrecen plazos tan flexibles ¡y sin penalización alguna! Incluso se puede dar el caso de aceptar estas cancelaciones estando fuera de límite cuando los motivos del cliente están más que justificados, circunstancias de las cuales preferimos no sacar provecho.

En cuanto a las bondades del destino turístico, podríamos estar hablando durante horas. ¿Qué decir del clima de en una zona en la que el Sol da nombre a su Costa? Las suaves temperaturas, tanto en otoño como en invierno, y la escasa presencia de lluvias (una media de 43 días al año) permiten la práctica del golf en cualquier época del año.

Llegar y disfrutar de este clima privilegiado nunca ha sido tan fácil gracias a que el Aeropuerto de Málaga ofrece conexiones con los principales aeropuertos de Europa… ¿a qué esperas? ¡Ven volando!

On many occasions we have talked to you about our courses; its beautiful views, the design, the continuous improvements in our facilities and also about feature events always confident of our customers’ support.

Joe Miller se proclamó ganador del Spanish LDET Championship celebrado en Los Lagos de Mijas Golf los días 6 y 7 de Septiembre.

El jugador británico, con un cañonazo de 371,5 yardas, quedó por encima de Andreas Persson (358 y).

Con la dificultad añadida de que el tiempo no acompañaba, las fases clasificatorias dieron comienzo a las diez de la mañana.

Los mejores golpes del primer grupo fueron para Persson y para Scott Beaven; éste último se ha revelado como todo un descubrimiento, ya que se trataba de su primera participación en una competición de este tipo.

El segundo grupo contaba con dos de los mejores del mundo: Joe Miller y el americano Maurice Allen, quienes lograron impresionantes resultados que hicieron más que evidente su reconocida fama.

En el tercer y cuarto grupo también se vivieron grandes momentos de emoción y nervios; ya que algunos, como el escocés McSloy, se jugaban el pase a cuartos de final. Y por otro lado, hubo quien asestó golpes increíbles,  como las 370 yardas de Anders Petterson.

La jornada estuvo amenizada con la presencia de un speaker, música y servicio de bebidas. Animados en todo momento por un entregado público, estos grandes del deporte demostraron su valía y una elegante rivalidad en el que ha sido un enfrentamiento entre verdaderos Titanes del Drive.

Joe Miller won the Spanish LDET Championship, played on the golf course of Los Lagos at Mijas Golf Internacional last 6th and 7th of September.

The British long driver surpassed Andreas Persson with an amazing 371,5 yards shot.

The qualifying stages began at 10.00 in the morning, with the added difficulty of an unpleasant weather.

The best shots of the first group were executed by Persson and Beaven. Scott Beaven has emerged as a revelation, considering that this was his first participation in a Long Drivers Event.

Two of the best hitters were on the second group: Joe Miller and Maurice Allen. Both achieved impressive records that proved this deserved reputation.

The game of the third and fourth group was also full of excitement and competitiveness: The Scottish McSloy passed to the quarter finals and Andreas Persson got the “Samsung Longest Ball of the Day” with 386,5 yards.

The whole event was enlivened by a speaker, music and drinks service.

The audience encouraged the participants enthusiastically and the players demonstrated its worth and showed a smart rivalry in this Titans fight.

Mijas Golf Internacional será escenario, los días 6 y 7 de setiembre, del SPANISH LDET Championship. El torneo se disputará en el campo de Los Lagos, dentro del complejo de Mijas Golf, uno de los más populares de la Costa del Sol. En este torneo, se darán cita los grandes pegadores europeos tales como Joe Miller (campeón del mundo 2010 y recién campeón de Europa 2013), Andreas Persson, Dan Konyk, Eric Houballah, Jorgen Trank o John McSloy, entre otros.

Esta es la primera ocasión en la que Mijas Golf acoge un campeonato de Long Drive y, más aún, dentro del tour del LDET. Uno de los artífices de que el torneo se juegue en la ciudad de Mijas es el director del campo, Lorenzo Pérez Cortés. El directivo confirmó que la decisión de optar a ser sede del campeonato se gestó hace dos meses. «La organización del LDET tuvo la intención, desde el primer momento en que nos reunimos, de que el torneo se disputara en la provincia y especialmente en Mijas Golf, porque la idea es hacer de este torneo el más espectacular del circuito, y nuestro campo tiene todo para poder serlo», comentó Lorenzo.

Promocionando la ciudad

A la hora de valorar lo que supondrá para Mijas Golf Internacional la celebración el Torneo, el Director General dijo: «Será una promoción y una publicidad para nuestros campos de golf así como para la ciudad de Mijas, ya que además de los long drivers, el torneo también atraerá espectadores, medios, aficionados al golf, turistas…», concluyó Lorenzo.

El campeonato, en el que participarán los mejores long drivers de Europa, se jugará el viernes 6 y el sábado 7 de setiembre.

Mijas Golf International will host, on 6th and 7th September, the SPANISH LDET Championship. The tournament will take place in the golf club of Los Lagos, within the complex of Mijas Golf, one of the most popular Costa del Sol golf courses. The Spanish event will meet the European big hitters such as Joe Miller (2010 World champion and new European champion 2013), Andreas Persson, Dan Konyk, Eric Houballah (European Senior Champion), Jorgen Trank or John McSloy, among others.

This is the first time that Mijas Golf will host a long drive championship and, indeed, within the LDET tour. Mijas Golf Intenacioanl CEO, Lorenzo Perez Cortes confirmed the decision to choose to host the championship was conceived two months ago. «From the first moment we met the organization of the LDET we both wanted the tournament at the province and especially in Mijas Golf, because the idea is to make this event the most spectacular tournament of the tour and our field has everything to be, «said Lorenzo.

Promoting the city

When assessing what it will mean for the celebration Mijas Golf International Tournament, the CEO said: «It will be a big promotion for our golf courses as well as to the city of Mijas-Marbella and this will bring the best European long drivers. The tournament will also attract spectators, media, golfers, tourists … «said Lorenzo.

The championship with the best European long drivers will be played on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of September.

Mijas Golf quiere daros la bienvenida a una página web  que rompe totalmente con el estilo de la anterior y con una estética más fresca y actual.

En ella se refleja un diseño más elegante y sofisticado, pero sin perder del todo el toque andaluz que viene caracterizando tanto  a la arquitectura de nuestras instalaciones como al logo de Mijas Golf y su “famoso burrito”; haciendo un guiño a la artesanía de la región mediante los tres marcos de la página de inicio, que imitan a la cerámica.

 Hemos optado por no abusar de los colores: El blanco y algunas tonalidades de azul (junto con el tono ocre son los colores corporativos) marcan la pauta, dejando todo el protagonismo a las fotos que ilustran la web.

 Asimismo, los textos y contenidos de algunos apartados han sido revisados y modificados para incluir la información del “Nuevo Los Lagos” (Descripción, fotos, tarjeta de recorrido, consejos del pro, etc.) y las características de nuestra renovada zona de prácticas.

Es una nueva página web que está a su vez más preparada en lo que a redes sociales se refiere, permitiendo al usuario enlazar con Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Tumblr., Google + y Tripadvisor.

 Una nueva sección, “Noticias”, incluirá publicaciones de cualquier información novedosa relacionada con Mijas Golf y/o con el mundo del golf en general.

 En definitiva, nuestro objetivo era lograr un sitio limpio, claro, útil, atractivo y cómodo de manejar; que permita encontrar fácilmente la información que se busca.

Al menos, eso es lo que deseábamos transmitir y para ello hemos cuidado hasta el más mínimo detalle. Ahora solo nos queda recibir vuestra visita virtual, y que quedéis tan encantados como los estamos nosotros con el cambio.

Mijas Golf welcomes you to a new website very different from the old one, intending to be more fresh and modern.

The design is more elegant and refined but trying to keep, at the same time, a little of that Andalusian touch showed in our facilities’ buildings as well as in the Mijas Golf logo – with its «famed donkey» -; so the ceramic-like frameworks at the home page are a small tribute to this style.

 We preferred to avoid an excess of coloring: Together with the ochre, white and blue are the corporate colors, gently present throughout the site to leave center stage to the pictures.

 The texts and  content have been carefully revised and adapted to include information about the «New Los Lagos» (descriptions, pictures, score-card, pro tips…) and the improved practice area features.

We are also aware of the importance of social networks, clearly evident for a quick link to Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Tumblr, Google + and Tripadvisor.

 Don’t miss our «News» section to keep abreast of any recent event regarding Mijas Golf Club and/or golf in general.

In the end, we wanted to achieve a new website which looks tidy, clear useful, attractive and easy that enable the user to quickly access to all the information.

Congratulations!!!! To Mr. Bob Martin, who made a «Hole in One» at hole number 2 of Los Lagos on the 14th of May 2013. Mr. Martin used a 8 Iron from a distance of 148 metres.

HOYO EN UNO EN MIJAS GOLF CLUB – LOS LAGOS.

¡¡¡Felicidades!!!! Al Sr. Bob Martin, quien realizó un «Hoyo en Uno» en el hoyo nº 2 de Los Lagos el día 14 de Mayo de 2013.Para ello utilizó un Hierro 8 desde una distancia de 148 metros.

Estos últimos años han supuesto para nosotros la satisfacción de ver cumplidos muchos sueños y proyectos; nuevos vestuarios, ampliación del cuarto de palos y taquillas, habilitación de un Club Social, reforma del campo de prácticas y, cómo no, el que ha sido nuestro mayor reto: La total reconstrucción de Los Lagos.

Le tocaba el turno al Restaurante, del que no podíamos olvidarnos habida cuenta de que – desde tiempos inmemoriales – es posible conquistar a muchos por el estómago…y porque, tras una buena jornada de golf, no hay nada como  darse un homenaje para reponer fuerzas y pasar un buen rato comentando lo mejor del día.

Este soplo de aire fresco (y aromático) nos llega de la mano de nuestro nuevo Jefe de Cocina: Jesús Porras Negre.

Su andadura por el mundo de la hostelería comenzó en la Escuela “La Cónsula” de Málaga. A pesar de su juventud, ya entonces quedó demostrada su gran pasión por esta profesión; al compaginar dichos estudios con un puesto de trabajo en el Restaurante “El Lago” (Green Life), poseedor de una Estrella Michelín.

Siguió acumulando experiencia durante el año que pasó en el Restaurante “Arzak” (San Sebastián), que cuenta con 3 Estrellas Michelin siendo el Nº 8 del mundo, y cuya propietaria – Helena Arzak – fue premiada como mejor cocinera del año.

También tuvo la gran suerte de poder trabajar durante seis meses en el recientemente galardonado (pasado 29 de Abril) como “Mejor Restaurante del Mundo”: El “Celler de Can Roca” (Gerona). Premio otorgado por la Revista “Restaurant” en Londres.

Cuando nos habla de esta nueva etapa en Mijas Golf, su expresión se llena de ilusión y entusiasmo. Su familia mantiene una estrecha relación de amistad con el club, que Jesús lleva visitando desde que era apenas un niño. Qué mejor sitio podía elegir como plataforma profesional, que uno donde se siente como en su propia casa. Él mismo ha sido testigo de todas las mejoras de las que hablábamos al principio, por lo que no ve el momento de empezar a formar parte de estos cambios a través de lo que mejor sabe hacer: Deleitarnos con el placer de una buena mesa.

Su propuesta es introducir la cocina típica mediterránea y platos tradicionales de la gastronomía malagueña. Se nos hace la boca agua con algunas de sus sugerencias: Ensalada de queso de cabra, arroz cremoso de boletus, huevos rotos, coulant de chocolate…

 During the last years, we have experienced the gratification of seeing many of our dreams and projects fulfilled; new changing rooms, lockers room’s enlargement, refurbishment of the practice area and,  of Course, our most important challenge: The complete reconstruction of Los Lagos.

It’s time to look after the restaurant, so important as – since time immemorial – it is well known that you can captivate a heart through the stomach…and because, after a good day of golf, for sure you will deserve a great meal to get your strength back while you review the best moments with your friends.

This fresh (and aromatic) breeze arrives along with our new Chef: Jesús Porras Negre.

His professional career began at “La Cónsula” School in Málaga. Despite his youth, from that early moment he demonstrated a great dedication to combine his schooling with a job at “El Lago” Restaurant (Green Life), which has one Michelin Star.

He increased his knowledge with one year of work at “Arzak” Restaurant (San Sebastián), which is the 8^th best restaurant in the world with its 3 Michelin Stars; and the owner – Helena Arzak – was rewarded as “Best Chef of the Year”.

He was fortunate to spend six months at the recently rewarded as “Best Restaurant in the World” (last 29^th of April): The “Celler de can Roca” (Gerona). This award is granted by the Magazine “Restaurant” in London.

When Jesús has to talk about this new stage at Mijas Golf, he becomes so excited and enthusiastic. His family keeps a long friendship with the Club, which he has been visiting since he was a little child. He couldn’t think of a better place to promote as a professional than here, where he feels like home. He has been a witness of these Mijas Golf improvements from the beginning, so he can’t wait to be part of the change by doing what he does best: to delight us in the pleasure of a good meal.

His proposal is to introduce the typical Mediterranean cuisine and the traditional gastronomy from Málaga. To hear his suggestions make my mouth water: Mushrooms Creamy Rice, Goat Cheese Salad, “Broken Eggs”, Chocolate Coulant…
