El Audi Canal + Tour 2014 ya calienta motores. Esta será la segunda edición del prestigioso circuito, del que Mijas Golf será anfitrión durante los Torneos 1º y 2º; que tendrán lugar los días 9 y 10 de Mayo:

Para Mijas Golf este será también el pistoletazo de salida en cuanto a nuestra temporada de Torneos 2014 se refiere. A continuación os detallamos la lista completa de los que se celebrarán este año en nuestro Club de Golf:

The Audi Canal + Tour 2014 is now warming up. This will be the second Trophy for this prestigious circuit; and Mijas Golf will be the host Club during the 1^st and 2^nd Tournaments that will be hold on the 9^th and 10^th of May.

El miércoles pasado se dejó caer por aquí Anais Maggetti, quien participa desde el año 2012 en el Ladies European Tour.

Nacida en Suiza, esta joven de 23 años se convirtió en profesional en Enero de 2012; registrándose en el LET un mes después de obtener dicha categoría.

En su país de origen, representa a Golf Gerre Losone en la región suiza de Ticino.

Durante su debut en el Tour en el año 2012, jugó un número de 17 Torneos y pasó un total de 12 cortes. En su segundo año, pasó un corte de entre los 16 eventos en los que participó.

Anais disfrutó en nuestras instalaciones de una tarde casi primaveral mientras ponía a prueba su destreza en Los Olivos, cuyo recorrido esperamos haya encontrado tan emocionante como su pasión por este deporte.

Anais Maggetti, who takes part in the Ladies European Tour, turned up at Mijas Golf last Wednesday.

Born in Switzerland, this young 23 years old girl became a golf professional in 2012; one month after obtaining this category, she joined the mentioned Golf Tour.

In her country, she represents Golf Gerre Losone in the Swiss region of Ticino.

During her debut year in 2012, she played in 17 events and made 12 cuts; the following year, she made one cut from the 16 played events.

Anais enjoyed an almost spring afternoon in our facilities, playing at Los Olivos. We hope she found this course as exciting as the passion she shows for this sport.

Calentando los drivers para el 2014

• El circuito europeo de Long Drive llega a más países de Europa como Alemania o Eslovenia
• El vigente campeón, el británico Joe Miller, defenderá el título conseguido en el último suspiro de la pasada campaña
• Nueva normativa: el material técnico de los jugadores quedará regulado para una mejor competitividad y desarrollo de cada prueba

3 de enero del 2014. – BARCELONA. El Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) calienta motores y prepara ya la nueva temporada 2014. En su segundo año de competición, el circuito pasará por nuevos países y se estrenará en Bélgica el próximo 12 de abril. Los mejores pegadores europeos volverán a exhibir su talento y el británico Joe Miller tendrá que defender su cetro de vigente campeón.

La emoción del Long Drive vuelve de la mano de LDET, que llevará este deporte a un mínimo de cinco nuevos emplazamientos del viejo continente. En el mes de abril, el Wellington Golf Club de Ostende (Bélgica), marcará el inicio de una temporada que acabará en noviembre y que se prevé muy disputada.

Alemania, Austria, Eslovenia e Italia también se estrenarán como destinos, y sus mejores hoyos e instalaciones serán el lugar de batalla de los mejores golpes de Miller, Persson, McSloy y compañía. Repetirán campos como el Prosper Golf Resort de (Celadna, República Checa) o el Mijas Golf Internacional (Málaga, España). En las próximas semanas se anunciarán nuevos emplazamientos para completar un circuito que espera seguir creciendo.

El británico Joe Miller defenderá el título como vigente campeón de Europa de Long Drive conseguido en 2013. Un trofeo que pudo alcanzar hasta el último golpe de la temporada, arrebatándole el cetro al sueco Andreas Persson en Torremirona (The Masters LDET Cup). Gracias al circuito LDET, muchos otros jugadores europeos se subirán esta nueva temporada al carro del Long Drive para recorrer toda Europa.

Al margen de los nuevos escenarios de competición, LDET dará un paso más en la profesionalización del circuito y publicará en los próximos días las novedades normativas que marcarán cada torneo. Las medidas del tee o de la calle de competición y el material técnico de los jugadores quedarán reguladas para mejorar la competitividad y el desarrollo de cada prueba. También se mantendrá abierta la competición a los jugadores amateurs de cada país, que podrán poner a prueba sus drivers al lado de los mejores de Europa

Drivers warming up for 2014

• The Long Drivers European Tour reaches more countries with tournaments now in Germany and Slovenia
• The current LDET champion, Britain’s Joe Miller, will defend his crown
• New rules: players equipment will be regulated for better championship competitiveness and development

January 3, 2014. – BARCELONA. The Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) warms up and prepares the new 2014 season. In its second year of competition, the circuit will pass through new countries and will commence in Belgium on April 12. Europe’s top hitters will return to show their talent and Britain’s Joe Miller will defend his tour championship title.

The Long Drive emotion is back thanks to LDET, that will introduce this sport into a minimum of five new European countries. In April, the Wellington Golf Club in Ostende (Belgium), will start the season, which will end in November and no doubt will be hard fought.

Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Italy are all introduced as new destinations, and their best holes and facilities will be the battlefield of the best hits of Miller, Persson, McSloy et al. LDET season repeat venues such as Prosper Golf Resort (Celadna, Czech Republic) or the Mijas Golf International (Malaga, Spain). In the coming weeks the new cities will be announced to complete an expected and continuous growing circuit.

Britain’s Joe Miller will defend the title as current European Long Drive Champion achieved in 2013. Miller reached the trophy in the last hit of the season, snatching the crown off Sweden’s Andreas Persson in Torremirona (The LDET Masters Cup). Thanks to LDET’s circuit, this season many more European players will jump on the Long Drive cart to tour Europe.

Apart from the new competition stages, LDET goes forward into the professionalization of the circuit and will publish, in the coming days, the new tournament regulations. Tee and fairway measurements and players equipment will be regulated to improve the competitiveness and development of each championship. Also, the circuit will keep open the amateur player inclusion from each country, enabling them to test their skills against Europe’s best.

HOLE IN ONE AT MIJAS GOLF CLUB – LOS OLIVOS.

Congratulations!!! To Mr. Lasse Grellan (Jorn Haugerod’s party), who made a «Hole in One» at Los Olivos – hole number 14 on the 15th of January 2014.

Mr. Grelland used a 6 Iron from a distance of 162 metres.

HOYO EN UNO EN MIJAS GOLF CLUB – LOS OLIVOS.

¡¡¡Felicidades!!! Al Sr. Lasse Grelland (Grupo – Jorn Haugerod), quien consiguió un «Hoyo en Uno» en el hoyo nº 14 de Los Olivos el 15 de Enero de 2014.

El Sr. Grelland utilizó un Hierro 6 y golpeó desde una distancia de 162 metros.

El pasado 11 de Diciembre tuvimos el placer de recibir la visita de una delegación de Greenkeepers que representan a los mejores de su gremio en Italia.

Parece ser que la fama de Mijas Golf se está extendiendo a pasos agigantados hasta convertirse en una parada casi obligatoria, ya no solo para jugadores, sino también para profesionales del sector en busca de referencias.

El Sr. Giuseppe Serenelli, representante de la empresa Herbatech en Verona, organiza anualmente una serie de viajes a nivel mundial con el fin de compartir experiencias e intercambiar puntos de vista con respecto a los que son considerados los mejores campos de golf.

Animados por la curiosidad que ha generado la reforma de Los Lagos, mostraron también un gran interés por la experiencia de nuestro Greenkeeper – Francisco Tirado – y sus enfoques a la hora de abordar tan importante proyecto.

Al final de la jornada, nos contaron que la impresión causada había sido inmejorable.

Les deseamos un buen viaje de vuelta y les agradecemos sus alentadoras palabras, esperando volver a verles por aquí muy pronto.

Last Tuesday the 11th of December, we had the pleasure to receive the visit of a Greenkeepers’ Delegation, representing the best of this profession in Italy.

It seems that Mijas Golf reputation knows no bounds; getting to be a required visit spot, not just for players, but also for this industry professionals in search of references.

A representative of the Italian company Herbatech (in Verona) – Mr. Giuseppe Serenelli – organizes a series of trips around the world to share experiences and to compare notes regarding the best golf courses.

Motivated by the curiosity about Los Lagos’ reconstruction, they also showed great interest in our Greenkeepers’ experience and how did he approach such and important project.

At the end of the day, they told us that Mijas Golf, in general, made a very good impression on them.

We wish them a good trip back home, thanking for their nice encouraging words and hoping to receive a new visit very soon.

La Navidad llegó temprano a los jugadores

Todos los participantes se llevaron premios en la competición en Mijas Golf/Los Olivos. La última competición del año de Sydkusten Trophy se jugó el martes 3 de diciembre, en Mijas Golf. 

Muchos nórdicos ya han emprendido el viaje a tierras lejanas para celebrar la Navidad con sus familiares y hubo menor participación que en las anteriores competiciones. Esto no redujo sin embargo el buen ambiente y además hubo suficientes premios para todos, como regalos de navidad tempraneros.

El tiempo fresco no impidió otro gran día en el campo de golf. La entrega de premios se realizó en la terraza del restaurante en la Casa Club, donde una vez más se organizó degustación de aceites de Castillo de Canena. La imponente mesa de premios incluía en esta ocasión vinos de la bodega gallega Santa Marta, de Viñaredo.

Advanced Christmas for the players

All the participants had prizes at the Competition celebrated on Los Olivos / Mijas Golf. The last Sydkusten Trophy competition of this year was held last Tuesday the 3rd of December at Mijas Golf.

Many Norse people are now on their long way back home to spend Christmas holidays with their loved ones, so the number of participants was less than inprevious occasions. But this fact didn’t cut off the good atmosphere; and there were prizes enough for everyone, as well as “Early Christmas” presents.

The cool weather didn’t mean an obstacle for a great day on the golf course. The prizes’ giving took place at Mijas Golf Restaurant terrace and, once again, we had Olive Oils tasting (Castillo de Canena oils). In this occasion, we could find also some wines from Santa Marta Galician winery (Viñaredo), between many other prizes.

La niña prodigio del golf, Ffion Tynan, ha llegado a Mijas Golf con la intención de entrenar en nuestros  dos campos entre hoy y mañana.

Originaria de Tonyrefail (Wales) y con tan sólo 10 años, participó en el Campeonato  Mundial de Juniors de Asia, siendo la primera no-asiática en terminar entre las cinco primeras de su categoría. Ffion  llegaba a  Jakarta tras lograr un fantástico resultado de 69 (3 bajo par) en la última vuelta del US Kids European G10 2013.

Siendo apenas una niña, es inevitable maravillarse ante tal capacidad de sacrificio, sin poder ni siquiera imaginarnos cuántas horas de entrenamiento hay detrás de su éxito.

Desde aquí  le auguramos un brillante futuro en su carrera como golfista, que no ha hecho más que comenzar.

Golfing prodigy Ffion Tynan is at Mijas Golf to practice in our two courses today and tomorrow.

The 10-year-old girl from Tonyrefail (Wales) became the first non-Asian player to finish in the top five of this age category – with a third-place – in the Asian Junior World Champion (Jakarta); coming from US Kids Golf European 2013 with  an outstanding last round of 69 (3 under par).

 Being just such a young girl, it is unavoidable to get shocked by her sacrifice capacity; as we cannot even imagine how many training hours there are behind this success.

 From here, we wish her a bright future in her just commencing career as a golfer.

 Muchas veces os hemos hablado de nuestros campos, de las hermosas vistas de las que se puede disfrutar, del  diseño, de las continuas mejoras en nuestras instalaciones, e incluso de los eventos que venimos celebrando; y siempre nos hemos sentido arropados por vuestra confianza y aceptación.

 Pero no podemos olvidar otros atractivos tan o más importantes si cabe, por los que puedes terminar de decidirte por Mijas Golf, así como por la Costa del Sol en general.

 Por ejemplo, no sé si conocéis  nuestros ventajosos plazos de cancelación. ¿Sabíais que se puede anular una reserva para 4 personas con tal sólo 24 horas de antelación?

 Pocos negocios del sector ofrecen plazos tan flexibles ¡y sin penalización alguna! Incluso se puede dar el caso de aceptar estas cancelaciones estando fuera de límite cuando los motivos del cliente están más que justificados, circunstancias de las cuales preferimos no sacar provecho.

En cuanto a las bondades del destino turístico, podríamos estar hablando durante horas. ¿Qué decir del clima de en una zona en la que el Sol da nombre a su Costa? Las suaves temperaturas, tanto en otoño como en invierno, y la escasa presencia de lluvias (una media de 43 días al año) permiten la práctica del golf en cualquier época del año.

Llegar y disfrutar de este clima privilegiado nunca ha sido tan fácil gracias a que el Aeropuerto de Málaga ofrece conexiones con los principales aeropuertos de Europa… ¿a qué esperas? ¡Ven volando!

On many occasions we have talked to you about our courses; its beautiful views, the design, the continuous improvements in our facilities and also about feature events always confident of our customers’ support.

But there are a lot of different things that will finally make you choose Mijas Golf and the Costa del Sol in general.

As an example, maybe you didn’t know about our advantageous cancellation periods.

 Have you realized that it is possible to cancel 4 players with only 24 hours notice? Only a few sector’s related business offer such as flexible periods…without penalty!! Can even be the case that we accept the cancellation out of limit, when the coustomer’s reasons are more than justified; so we prefer not to take advantage of these circumstances.

 But if you need more reasons to visit Málaga, we could be talking during hours! What can we say about the weather in a place where the Sun gives its name to the Coast? Joe Miller se proclamó ganador del Spanish LDET Championship celebrado en Los Lagos de Mijas Golf los días 6 y 7 de Septiembre.

El jugador británico, con un cañonazo de 371,5 yardas, quedó por encima de Andreas Persson (358 y).

Con la dificultad añadida de que el tiempo no acompañaba, las fases clasificatorias dieron comienzo a las diez de la mañana.

Los mejores golpes del primer grupo fueron para Persson y para Scott Beaven; éste último se ha revelado como todo un descubrimiento, ya que se trataba de su primera participación en una competición de este tipo.

El segundo grupo contaba con dos de los mejores del mundo: Joe Miller y el americano Maurice Allen, quienes lograron impresionantes resultados que hicieron más que evidente su reconocida fama.

En el tercer y cuarto grupo también se vivieron grandes momentos de emoción y nervios; ya que algunos, como el escocés McSloy, se jugaban el pase a cuartos de final. Y por otro lado, hubo quien asestó golpes increíbles,  como las 370 yardas de Anders Petterson.

La jornada estuvo amenizada con la presencia de un speaker, música y servicio de bebidas. Animados en todo momento por un entregado público, estos grandes del deporte demostraron su valía y una elegante rivalidad en el que ha sido un enfrentamiento entre verdaderos Titanes del Drive.

Joe Miller won the Spanish LDET Championship, played on the golf course of Los Lagos at Mijas Golf Internacional last 6th and 7th of September.

The British long driver surpassed Andreas Persson with an amazing 371,5 yards shot.

The qualifying stages began at 10.00 in the morning, with the added difficulty of an unpleasant weather.

The best shots of the first group were executed by Persson and Beaven. Scott Beaven has emerged as a revelation, considering that this was his first participation in a Long Drivers Event.

Two of the best hitters were on the second group: Joe Miller and Maurice Allen. Both achieved impressive records that proved this deserved reputation.

The game of the third and fourth group was also full of excitement and competitiveness: The Scottish McSloy passed to the quarter finals and Andreas Persson got the “Samsung Longest Ball of the Day” with 386,5 yards.

The whole event was enlivened by a speaker, music and drinks service.

The audience encouraged the participants enthusiastically and the players demonstrated its worth and showed a smart rivalry in this Titans fight.
