Siguiendo con el plan de perfeccionamiento del campo planteado por nuestro Greenkeeper, algunos de los bunkers del recorrido Los Olivos fueron reparados el año pasado. Y, en cuanto ha sido posible, se prosigue ahora arreglando algunos otros que faltaban.
Se están dando ya los últimos retoques al bunker del 11 de Los Olivos; donde, para recuperar la “buena forma” de este obstáculo de arena, se realizan los trabajos habituales ya detallados anteriormente: Deshacerse de todo el relleno antiguo hasta llegar a la base, poner el drenaje y cubrir otra vez todo con arena nueva.
Ya se ha comenzado a hacer lo mismo en el del hoyo 16 del mismo recorrido; los siguientes previstos son los del 2, 7 y 18 por este orden.
Nosotros seguimos disfrutando en este mes de Octubre de un privilegiado comienzo de Otoño con un clima prácticamente estival, del que invitamos a disfrutar a todos los golfistas que aún se estén pensando si merece la pena planear un viaje a la Costa del Sol en esta época del año: Total y absolutamente.

Following the course improvement plan proposed by our Greenkeeper, some bunkers of Los Olivos were repaired last year. And, as soon as it was possible, we continue fixing some others missing.
We are finishing the works on Los Olivos’ 11 hole bunker; where, to recover the “good shape” of this sand hazard, we do the ordinary works mentioned in previous occasions: to put off all the old padding to get to the base, to set the drainage and to cover everything again with new sand.
We have already started to do the same on the 16th hole of the same course; the following on the list are the 2nd, the, 7th and the 18th in this order.
Now enjoying this October in a privileged beginning of Autumn due to a real summer weather, which invites all those golfers still hesitating to come or not to Costa del Sol this time of the year: Absolutely yes!

Ha sido un duro trabajo de preparación que nos ha llevado semanas de esfuerzo y dedicación. Pero este importante torneo sin duda lo merece, ya que con él homenajeamos a Felipe Pérez: Director de Mijas Golf hasta su fallecimiento en 2009.
Las fechas elegidas fueron el 7 y 8 de Agosto, que llegaron acompañados de un sol de justicia, que en absoluto mermaron el ánimo y el afán competitivo de los participantes.
Se jugaba en el formato “Shot Gun” bajo la modalidad Pro-am “Pareja mejor bola” con tres salidas: Viernes a las 15.30 y sábado por la mañana (08.30) y por la tarde (15.00). Asistieron en total 96 equipos (384 jugadores). Obtenían premio los 4 mejores resultados profesionales: 3.000€, 2.000€, 1.000€ y 500€ respectivamente. Varias cadenas locales cubrieron el evento, además de Andalucia Golf TV.
El segundo día por la noche, fue cuando tuvo lugar la entrega de trofeos en la Terraza del Restaurante de Mijas Golf; acompañada de un cocktail del que disfrutaron todos los asistentes mientras intercambiaban experiencias y comentaban sus resultados. Después se dio paso a una espectacular rifa, en la que figuraban 1 abono VIP ilimitado para 2016 en Mijas Golf, Cenas en magníficos restaurantes, Suites y fines de semana de hotel, un gran número de green-fees de algunos de los campos de golf más populares de Málaga…y muchos otros regalos.
Tanto en el discurso de agradecimiento de nuestro Director – D. Lorenzo Pérez – como a lo largo de estos dos días de Torneo, siempre hay una mención muy especial para nuestros patrocinadores y colaboradores, por hacer posible esta maravillosa entrega de premios.

It have been weeks of hard work to finally manage to get this important tournament ahead; but to honor the memory of Felipe Pérez (our beloved Director until 2009) deserves every effort.
7th and 8th of August were marked on the calendar; and they day came at last, accompanied by a blazing sun, that didn’t discourage the participants in their aim of competing and having fun.
It was played in the format «Shot Gun» in the form Pro-am «Couple best ball» with three starts: Friday at 15.30 and Saturday morning (08.30) and afternoon (15.00). There were a total of 96 teams (384 players).
The prizes were to be delivered to the 4 best professional results: 3.000€, 2.000€, 1.000€ and 500€ respectively. The event was covered by Andalucia Golf TV and some other local media.
The prizes’ giving took place on Saturday evening at Mijas Golf Restaurant’s Terrace with an enjoyable cocktail, where all the assistants had the opportunity of a lively conversation about experiences and results. Then we proceed with the spectacular raffle with such as good gifts as 1 unlimited 2016 Vip membership for Mijas Golf, Suites and complete weekends for some fantastic Hotels, Fabulous dinners in local restaurants and a large number of green-fees to play in some of the most renowned Golf Courses in Málaga.
D. Lorenzo Pérez – Mijas Golf Clubs’ General Manager – made special mention for all the collaborators and sponsors, so essential in this Pro-am; thanks to them, it is possible to carry out with such an attractive prizes’ giving.

Like it were a bad endemic or the black plague, we would like to take the opportunity of the high season period, to remind all our dear golfers the need to avoid slow play in golf.
It is one of the most important rules of golf’s etiquette which too often… does not get the attention it deserves.
In golf, slow play is a situation where it takes longer than it should to complete an 18-hole round. If it normally would take 4.30 hours, during a slow play situation it might take 5 or even 5.5 hours. When play is extremely slow, golfers have to wait on every tee and every fairway for the group ahead of them to finish before they can hit their shots. Waiting diminishes the enjoyment golfers derive from playing the game.
Ultimately the responsibility for speeding up play lies with each golfer. Simple courtesy for the players behind you is the surest remedy for slow play. Be ready to play your shot when it is your turn. Select your club and plan your shot while your playing partners are hitting theirs. Never hit practice shots on the course, such as replaying a bunker shot that was poorly executed. Limit the time spent looking for lost balls or have other members of the group hit while you are looking. If each player in your group is taking too many shots each hole, consider picking up your ball in the fairway and resuming play at the green.
The principal reason of slow play is the golfer’s individual behavior. Some golfers take too many practice swings before hitting their shot. They spend a big amount of time looking for a lost ball. Having a large number of poor players on the course slows play simply because they hit so many shots.
Slow play not only spoils the enjoyment of the groups behind you, but also the groups ahead of you who will be waiting in the clubhouse for you, sometimes for over an hour! You will find that many golf clubs will state on the score cards in bold letters «AVOID SLOW PLAY». At the professional level slow play has resulted in the player having to pay quite a hefty fine.
¡¡JUEGO LENTO, NO GRACIAS!!
Como si de un mal epidémico o una peste se tratará, aprovechamos la época de temporada alta, para recordar a todos nuestros queridos golfistas la necesidad de evitar el juego lento en los campos de golf.
Es una de las reglas de etiqueta más importante en golf, que en demasiadas ocasiones no recibe la atención que se merece.
En el golf, el juego lento es una situación en la que lleva más tiempo de lo que debería para completar una ronda de 18 hoyos. Si normalmente se tardaría 4,30 horas, durante una situación de juego lento se podría llegar 5 o incluso 5,5 horas. Cuando el juego es extremadamente lento, los golfistas tienen que esperar en cada tee y cada calle para que el grupo por delante de ellos termine de jugar su hoyo. Esta tediosa espera disminuye el disfrute de todos los golfistas en general.
En última instancia, la responsabilidad de acelerar el juego es inherente a cada golfista. Aplicar las reglas de etiqueta y de cortesía con respecto a los jugadores que van detrás de vd., es el remedio más seguro para evitar el juego lento.
Esté listo para jugar su tiro cuando es su turno. Seleccione su palo y planifique su disparo, mientras que sus compañeros de juego están jugando su golpe. Nunca efectúe tiros de práctica en el campo, como volver a jugar un golpe desde el bunker que fue mal jugado. Limite el tiempo de búsqueda de las bolas perdidas o haga que otro compañero juegue su bola mientras vd. está buscando la suya. Si los jugadores de su partida estuvieran dando demasiados golpes en un hoyo, por favor considere el levantar la bola y reanudar su juego en el green.
La razón principal de juego lento es el comportamiento individual del jugador de golf. Algunos jugadores toman demasiados swings de práctica antes de golpear su tiro. Pasan una gran cantidad de tiempo en busca de una bola perdida.
El juego lento no sólo estropea el disfrute de los grupos detrás de vd., sino también a los grupos por delante, que lo estarán esperando, ¡a veces durante más de una hora!. Podrá comprobar que muchos clubes de golf le indicarán en las tarjetas de recorrido en negrita “evitar el juego lento”. A nivel profesional el juego lento ha dado como resultado que el jugador tenga que pagar un fuerte multa.
Remember that today is you who is doing wait for the rest, but tomorrow it could be yourself who has to wait.
Recuerde hoy es vd. el que hace esperar, pero mañana puede ser vd. mismo el que tenga que esperar.
