El clásico memorial Felipe Pérez (fallecido en 2009) celebró su 7ª Edición el viernes 9 y sábado 10 de Agosto de 2019. En esta ocasión se cumplía el X Aniversario de su fallecimiento, por lo que sus hijas (Ana y Marina Pérez Mediavilla), fueron las encargadas de entregar los premios de los equipos y pro ganadores.

Al tratase de un torneo de carácter benéfico, conseguimos recaudar mediante la inscripción, la importante cifra de 4.250€, los cuáles fueron donados a la Asociación Golf Solidarios para ayuda de niños, mayores y personas desfavorecidas y en riesgo de exclusión.

Los participantes jugaron en formato “Shot Gun” y en la modalidad de Pro-am “DOS MEJORES BOLAS – MEDAL PLAY”, realizándose dos salidas al tiro cada día a las 9.30 y a las 15.30, tanto el viernes como el sábado. La asistencia total fue de 100 equipos – 400 jugadores. Obtenían premio los 4 mejores resultados profesionales: de 3.000€, 2.000€, 1.000€ y 500€ respectivamente.

Durante la entrega de trofeos, que tuvo lugar en la terraza del Restaurante Mijas Golf, se pudo disfrutar de un ambiente de lo más agradable y animado; dando paso después a una de las mejores rifas hasta el momento, con premios tan atractivos como 1 abono vip ilimitado para 2020 en Mijas Golf, material de golf de prestigiosas marcas, cenas degustación, suites y fines de semana en maravillosos hoteles y un gran número de greenfees para jugar en algunos de los campos de golf más reconocidos de la provincia de Málaga, entre otros muchos regalos.

Durante el discurso de agradecimiento previo a la entrega de premios, el Director de Mijas Golf – D. Lorenzo Pérez – tuvo muy en cuenta tanto a patrocinadores como a colaboradores, sin cuya confianza y generosidad no se hubieran no se hubieran podido ofrecer tan fabulosos premios.

The 7th edition of this Memorial to Felipe Pérez Cortés (passed away in 2009) was hosted on Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th of August 2019. With this edition we reach the tenth anniversary of his death, so his daughters (Ana and Marina Pérez Mediavilla) were in charge to deliver the prizes to the winner teams and pro.

Being a Charity Tournament, the high number of registrations made possible to collect 4.250€ to be donated to the Golf Solidarios Association in help of children, old people and disadvantage people at risk of exclusion.

The participants played in a “Shot Gun” format and the modality of the pro-am was “2 Best balls – Medal Play”. There were two shot guns each day, Friday and Saturday, at 9.30 am and 15.30; which resulted in a total attendance of 100 teams (400 players). The prizes were for the 4 best professional results: 3.000€, 2.000€, 1000 € and 500€ respectively.

Everybody enjoyed of a pleasant and entertaining atmosphere during the prizes giving at Mijas Golf Restaurant Terrace, culminated by one of the best raffles so far at Mijas Golf Club including: 1 unlimited yearly membership at Mijas Golf for 2020, fabulous dinners at local restaurants, Suites & weekend stays in wonderful hotels, a large number of green-fees to play in some of the most renewed golf courses in Málaga, golf equipment from excellent brands and much more.

Con una mezcla de alegría, nostalgia y tristeza, pero sobre todo muy emocionados, despedimos el pasado viernes a nuestro compañero Bernardo y le deseábamos toda la suerte del mundo en su nueva y merecida etapa como jubilado.
El fin de su impecable trayectoria como parte del equipo de mantenimiento de Mijas golf coincide además con el 40 aniversario de la empresa; ¡fue de los primeros en poner un pie en el campo!
Y que menos que una pequeña fiesta a la que no queremos llamar “De Despedida”…porque es y será siempre parte de esta gran familia; y porque ésta siempre será su casa.
Mucha suerte, muchas gracias por todo y hasta siempre.

Within a mixture of happiness, nostalgia and sadness but especially very moved, we said goodbye to our partner Bernardo last Friday. We wish him all the best in this new phase of his life (well deserved) as retired.
The end of his impeccable trajectory as part of Mijas Golf Maintenace Department’s team concurs with the 40th anniversary of our company: He was one of the first ones to set foot in these golf courses!!
We couldn’t do less than a small party which we wouldn’t like to name it as “ GOODBYE PARTY”; because he is – and he will always be – part of this great family, and also because this will always be his house.

Nueve excombatientes ingleses reciben ayuda en Mijas Golf para ‘renacer’.
On Course Foundation y la Asociación Nómadas del Golf han posibilitado los acompañan una semana.

«Perdí el brazo derecho y tuvieron que reconstruirme la cara a raíz de una bomba que me explotó mientras patrullaba un día en la Guerra de Afganistán, en 2009. La bomba se encontraba en un árbol y fue activada a través de una cuerda metálica». Quien habla es Tom James, excombatiente británico de 26 años (entonces solo tenía 20), con pareja y dos hijos (una niña y un niño), que ha vuelto a renacer tras aquella pesadilla. Pese a ser diestro y tener que hacerlo todo a partir de entonces con la mano izquierda, se siente un privilegiado: «Estoy vivo y, además, no soy tetrapléjico como otros muchos compañeros. La Armada británica no hizo nada por nosotros. Todos los días llegaba a casa tras la rehabilitación y no tenía nada que hacer. En una asociación local me hablaron de On Course Foundation. Esta fundación, aunque suene a tópico, me ha dado la vida», explica emocionado.

On Course Foundation, fundada en 2010 por John Simpson, manager del extraordinario exgolfista Nick Faldo, ayuda a heridos de guerra a rehacer su vida, pagando los costes del Headley Court, el centro de rehabilitación situado en Surrey, a unos 40 kilómetros al sur de Londres, donde se conocieron los nueve excombatientes que han escogido Mijas Golf como el lugar ideal para practicar este deporte y, con ello, adaptarse a una vida normal tras haber pasado por una experiencia traumática. La mayoría de ellos estuvieron en Afganistán, pero también los hay que lucharon en Irak y en Las Maldivas.

Uno de estos exmilitares, que perdió en Afganistán sus dos piernas, Ian Bishop (35 años), es el único de los nueve que reside en Mijas desde hace años y, con la ayuda de su amigo Roger Wedge, coordinador de la Asociación Nómadas del Golf, convencieron a los demás del acierto de venir a la Costa del Sol a practicar este deporte que sirve de terapia para quienes necesitan readaptarse.

Greig Phillips, Tony Lowndes, Dave Onions, Rob Hansen, el mencionado Tom James, David Ward, Mike Brown y Eddie McIlvenna no se lo pensaron dos veces e hicieron las maletas para, durante siete días, disfrutar de las instalaciones de una villa de 12 dormitorios de Mijas Golf.

«Esto forma parte de la rehabilitación, porque el sol les relaja los músculos, es terapéutico», señala Roger Wedge, veterano (no de guerra) y muy activo en Mijas Golf tras haber regentado diversos establecimientos en la Costa del Sol.

Rob Hansen, de 40 años, se dedicaba a escalar postes de electricidad en la Armada para el mantenimiento, cuando ocurrió la desgracia: «Me fastidié la rodilla izquierda, perdí todos los cartílagos y el hueso. Me hicieron un transplante de titanio, que se rompió el año pasado y me han tenido que poner otro este año».

Ian Bishop recuerda su peor momento como si fuera ayer. «Perdí las dos piernas en Afganistán. Me explotó una bomba mientras estaba combatiendo. El golf me ayudó no solo a la rehabilitación de mi cuerpo, sino también de mi mente. Me hace disfrutar y seguir adelante», señala mirando al cielo. Cuando se le pregunta si se considera un héroe, lo tiene claro: «No lo soy, solo era un trabajo que tenía que realizar». Y apunta a su mejor bastión. «Para mí fue muy duro volver de la guerra. Pero tengo una ventaja: mi esposa es escocesa de pura cepa, muy luchadora, y no permite que tenga lástima de mí mismo».

Gracias a On Course Foundation, los nueve han conseguido sentirse felices y «ese ambiente de colegas que solía haber en combate», expresa Tom James. Gracias a Mijas Golf, la vida tiene más sentido para ellos a partir de ahora.

«I lost my right arm and had to reconstruct the face following a bomb that exploded me while patrolling a day in the Afghan War in 2009. The bomb was in a tree and was activated by a metal rope.» The speaker is Tom James, British veteran of 26 years (then only 20), with partner and two children (a girl and a boy), which has been reborn after this nightmare. Superando las adversas expectativas en cuanto al tiempo, finalmente se pudo celebrar en Mijas Golf el V Torneo de Navidad el pasado sábado 13 de Diciembre. Aunque el cielo nublado y las primeras gotas de la mañana hacían pensar lo contrario, una tregua más que generosa hizo posible que todo se llevase a cabo en el mejor de los ambientes.

El campo de Los Olivos daba la bienvenida a los participantes, preparados para la salida “Al Tiro” a las 09.30 en una competición que se jugaba bajo la modalidad Stableford Individual.

Optaban a Trofeos y magníficos premios los seis primeros clasificados; así como la bola más cercana en los hoyos 3, 6, 8, 14 y 16.

La entrega de premios tuvo lugar en el Sport Bar de Mijas Golf, donde todos pudimos sentirnos “entre amigos” una vez más;  rodeados de nuestros más fieles socios, así como de todos los que quisieron sumarse a este ya tradicional evento.

Para nosotros queda pues inaugurada la temporada Navideña,  deseándoles a todos muchísima felicidad en estas fechas y lo mejor de lo mejor en el próximo año 2015.

Exceeding expectations about bad weather, finally it was possible to celebrate our Mijas Golf – 5th Christmas Tournament last Saturday the 13th of December.

An early cloudy sky and the first raindrops in the morning made us think otherwise; but a more than generous truce allowed to carry on with a fantastic fun day.

Los Olivos course welcomed the participants, ready for the “Shot Gun” at 9.30 of this “Individual Stableford” Competition.

There were trophies and prizes for the top six players; and also for the “Nearest to the Pin” on holes number 3, 6, 8, 14 and 16.

The prizes’ giving took place at the Mijas Golf Sport Bar; where we could all “feel at home” one again surrounded by our loyal members and many others that wanted to join this traditional event.

So for us the “Christmas Season” is officially inaugurated, wishing you all the happiness in these holidays and the best for next 2015 year.

La decimoséptima edición del Circuito Seniors de Andalucía celebró su final el sábado 8 de noviembre en el campo Los Olivos de Mijas Golf, donde se dieron cita los tres primeros clasificados de cada una de las ocho pruebas clasificatorias celebradas a lo largo del año y los dos primeros clasificados en cada una de las categorías del Campeonato Internacional Seniors Masculino y Femenino de Andalucía.

La prueba se disputó, al igual que los torneos anteriores, en dos categorías de caballeros y una de damas, en  18 hoyos bajo la modalidad Stableford Hándicap.

En cuanto a los ganadores, Tony Redston (Alborán Golf) se impuso con 38 puntos (-3) en primera categoría de Caballeros. La segunda plaza, a un punto del ganador, fue para Mark Newall (Asociación de Seniors de Golf de Andalucía), y en tercera posición, con una vuelta de 36 puntos, finalizó Juan Miguel Pulido (Real Club de Campo de Málaga).

En segunda categoría de Caballeros, el triunfo –con 37 puntos (-1)- fue para Juan del Valle, de Pozoblanco. Tras él, con 36 puntos, finalizó el jugador de Corta Atalaya, Andrés Pérez. El tercer puesto ha sido para José Muñoz (Lauro Golf), con 34 puntos.

En la Categoría de Damas, Mª Pilar van Dulken (Guadalhorce) se hizo con la victoria tras entregar una tarjeta de 39 puntos (-3).  A cuatro puntos de ella, terminó –en segunda posición-  Eulalia García-Estrada (Playa Serena), y Brigitte Nitschke (Real Club de campo de Málaga) fue tercera con 34 puntos.
Campeones del Ranking Andaluz Senior 2014

Naughton Nial se ha proclamado Campeón del Ranking Andaluz Senior Masculino de 1ª Categoría. Tras él, en segundo lugar, ha quedado Thomas McManus.

En segunda categoría de caballeros, ha encabezado el Ranking John Robilliard, seguido en segunda posición de Antonio Fernández.

Por su parte, Chelo Zafra ha sido galardonada como primera clasificada del Ranking Andaluz Senior Femenino. La segunda clasificada ha sido Mohaine Sookdeo.

Tras finalizar la competición, se procedió a la entrega de premios, que contó con la presencia de Francisco Cervilla, Presidente del Comité Técnico de Seniors de la RFGA; Ignacio Iturbe, Delegado Provincial en Málaga de la RFGA y Adjunto a la Presidencia; Lorenzo Pérez, Director de Mijas Golf; Salvador Pérez Mérida, Vocal de Relaciones Institucionales, Prensa y Protocolo de la RFGA; y Gonzalo García Corzo, Vocal del Comité de Seniors de la RFGA.

Esta temporada el Circuito Seniors de Andalucía ha constado de ocho torneos celebrados en Playa Serena, Real Club de Sevilla, Granada Club de Golf, Parque Deportivo La Garza, Parador de Málaga, El Rompido, Córdoba y Arcos Golf.

FINAL CIRCUITO SENIOR - DE ANDALUCIA - FINAL MATCH OF THE SENIOR GOLF TOUR

The Final Match of the Senior Golf Tour of Andalucia 2014 was held today by “Mijas Golf”, where more than 70 players played the tournament in 3 different categories: one ladies’ category and 2 gentlemen’s categories, all of them under the Stableford handicap format over 18 holes.

In the only category of ladies, Mª Pilar van Dulken (Guadalhorce) led the qualification, thanks to a total of 39 points (-3).  Mª Pilar is followed by Eulalia García-Estrada (Playa Serena), who came in 2nd place with 35 points, and Brigitte Nitschke (Real Club de Campo de Málaga) who came in 3rd place with 34 points.

Tony Redston (Alborán Golf) was the winner in the first category of gentlemen, with 38 points, overtaking Mark Newall (Asociación de Seniors de Golf de Andalucía) and Juan Miguel Pulido (Real Club de Campo de Málaga) with 37 and 36 points each one of them.

The victor of the 2nd category of gentlemen was Juan del Valle (Pozoblanco), who gained 37 points.  Andrés Pérez (Corta Atalaya) came in the 2nd place with 36 points and José Muñoz (Lauro Golf) came in the 3rd place with 34 points.

The awards ceremony was held after the lunch break, with the attendance of Francisco Cervilla, President of the Seniors and Foreigners Committee of the Royal Golf Federation of Andalucía; Ignacio Iturbe, Municipal Delegate of the RFGA in Málaga; Salvador Pérez Mérida, member of the Board of Directors of the RFGA; Gonzalo García, member of the Seniors and Foreigners Committee; and Lorenzo Pérez, on behalf of Mijas Golf.

Senior Ranking 2014

Naughton Nial came in the first place of the Senior Ranking of Andalucía 2014, followed by Thomas McManus, in the second place.  In the 2nd category of gentlemen, John Robilliard leads the Senior Ranking and Antonio Fernández came in the second place.

Finally, Chelo Zafra was the winner of the Ladies Senior Ranking 2014, followed by Mohaine Sookdeo, in the second place.
